The 2014 FIFA World Cup was the 20th FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's national football teams organized by FIFA. The tournament was held in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July 2014, after the country was selected as the host nation in 2007. The tournament was won by Germany, which defeated Argentina 1-0 in the final at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Mario Götze scored the winning goal in extra time.

The 2014 ICC Cricket World Cup was the 11th edition of the Cricket World Cup, the quadrennial world championship of one-day international cricket. The tournament was held in Australia and New Zealand from 14 February to 29 March 2015, with the final being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The tournament was won by Australia, which defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets in the final. James Faulkner was named man of the match.
